MATCH REPORT
Sutton are a young talented side that play possession football. Coleshill knew this so their game plan was to press them high up the pitch and it worked to a tee! Town pressed the home side on the edge of their own box and on 4 minutes Alex Tomkinson slipped the ball to Kai Tonge who side footed home. In a repeat action Tomkinson this time found Isia Marsilla in the box to shoot home on 6 minutes to double the Colemen’s advantage. Sutton played their part in a very entertaining game and would have scored at least once if not for Town legend Paul Hathaway who is closing in on his 400th appearance. Hathaway made several class saves to keep a clean sheet then to put icing on the cake Joe Phillips scored late on from a free kick with his rarely used right foot.
The win moves Coleshill up to 8th in the table and due to their early exit from the FA Cup they have next Saturday off and are back in action on Monday 5th September at home to St Neots Town.

A View From The Other Side
A Match Report taken from Sutton web site
Mark Sanders report as the Royals are undone by early goes at Coles Lane

The Royals took on local rivals Coleshill Town at Coles Lane, with a view to replicating the wonderful performance the lads put in on Saturday when we were away to Cambridge City.

Stringer’s men for the game were as follows: Hart, Sawyer, Armitage, Todd, Beresford, Adegbola, Dampha, Collins, Spruce, Hilton, and Tavares.

Sutton never really got off the starting blocks, as within 4 minutes, Coleshill took the lead through Tonge. He side-footed the ball home after good pressing from the Coleshill lads. 0-1 Coleshill.

Coleshill doubled their lead two minutes later, when old Royal Isai Marselia came back to haunt the club with a good strike after Sutton were put under too much pressure. 0-2 Coleshill.

24 minutes in, and Sutton’s first chance came after a good one two between Spruce and Hiton saw Hiltons low drive saved well by Hathaway in the Coleshill goal.

Flavio had a good effort moments later but his curling shot went well over the cross bar, Spruce was the man to set his effort up.

That was the first half, which was largely uneventful for Sutton who never really recovered from the early double.

Sutton came out with a little more determination for the second half, and Spruce nearly got Sutton back in the game with a curling effort that went over the bar.

Hilton took several defenders on and managed to get to the by-line before shooting, which Hathaway saved with his feet.

Sawyer tried his luck from distance but his effort cleared the bar.

Collins was replaced by Hendrie on 69 minutes.

Hendrie received the ball from a short corner, and a curling shot headed towards the top corner was well saved by Hathaway.

Spruce ran onto a wide ball and blasted his effort straight at Hathaway.

69 minutes and Tavares came off to be replaced by Ellis

Marselia took a free kick for Coleshill which Hart saved well to keep the score at 2-0.

Shortly after, Coleshill won another free kick on the edge of the area after Reinaldo got fouled. Phillips took it and his right foot shot nestled the ball into the net to put The Royals to the sword. 3-0 Coleshill.

Spruce saw his final effort of the game easily saved by Hathaway.

Ellis tried his luck but again Hathaway was equal to it.

The game petered out to a 3-0 loss for the Royals, with many scratching their heads as how this performance could follow the one two days before.

The truth is, Sutton never really recovered from the early double and were always chasing the game which Coleshill controlled from start to finish.
