MATCH REPORT
After fine wins in the F.A. Cup against Nuneaton Town, Pershore Town and Worcester Warriors, it was a big step up and a massive challenge to take on Hednesford Town, a club a level above and a structure and ambition to go higher. It was so important that Coleshill started well and denied the visitors the chance to dominate the game. Well, that was the plan, but it all went out the window as the Pitmen punished the home defence at every opportunity. Goals came thick and fast, 2mins Dan Turner, 4mins Ahkeem Rose, 20mins Rose again, 22mins Dom McHale, 24mins Jonny Edwards. Coleshill had a very good shout for a penalty turned down as Daniel Gyasi had his ankles tapped but the referee wasn’t interested, but overall Coleshill were outclassed!
The second half was more even as Coleshill limited the damage and the visitors eased off the pressure but they still added two more goals, on 70 and 83mins as Rose took his personal tally to Four. This was Coleshill’s heaviest defeat, at Home, in the FA Cup, but it’s gone, the better team won! FA Trophy and more importantly still the League to play for. AFC Rushden & Diamonds up next in the Trophy!
